This committee who came together to begin the <br /> process of resun•ecting the dream of a ~~rnnasium facilih~ here at Hualani Park, is made up <br /> of communin• members from the immediate Keaukaha area as well as the community of <br /> Hilo. <br /> Just a short history: Kawananakoa Hall was rebuilt on its present site in 1946. The <br /> late 70's brougltt the realization that the Hall inadequately met the needs of the comtnunih'. <br /> In 1979, the Legislature appropriated 5881,000 for planning and construction for <br /> Keaukaha CommunihaResource Center. <br /> These funds did not reach Kawananakoa Hall. Today, community members are <br /> reaching out to all agencies, public and praate, to plan, design, and construct a ~ rnnasium <br /> that would meet the current needs of the cotmmunity as well as anticipated future needs in a <br /> safe, sanitary and healthy en~ir'onment. <br /> <br />
