REPORT OF THE <br /> COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC WORKS AND <br /> PARKS AND RECREATION COMMITTEE <br /> DATE: August 16, 2011 Re: Comm. No. 301/Res. No. 120-11 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Kona, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 9:00 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Public Works and Parks and Recreation, to which was referred <br /> Resolution 120-11, reports as follows: <br /> Resolution No. 120-11, transmitted via Communication No. 301 from Councilmember <br /> K. Angel Pilago, dated August 3, 2011 requests the determination of a Sewer Improvement <br /> District by assessments in accordance with Chapter 12 of the Hawai`i County Code 1983 (2005 <br /> Edition as Amended) and requests the Director of the Department of Environmental <br /> Management to take the first step required by Chapter 12, which is to prepare and submit a report <br /> containing information provided in Section 12-10(a), paragraphs 1-8. <br /> Communication 301.1 was introduced by Councilmember Pilago with proposed amendments to <br /> Resolution 120-11. The amendments are non-substantive, adding the word "and" at the end of <br /> the first five WHEREAS clauses. Communication 301.1 was approved by Your Committee and <br /> Resolution 120-11, as amended, was forwarded to Council. <br /> For informational purposes, six members of the public testified in favor of Resolution 120-11. <br /> Councilmember Pilago informed committee members that the Lono Kona Subdivision has <br /> 105 lots and received its final subdivision approvals in 1962. He stated that it is imperative that <br /> the Council move this forward.
