8/23/2011 <br />4 <br />• <br />• <br />• <br />• <br />Why are we doing it? <br />Implement traffic accident analysis system to plan safety improvement projects. <br />Data to be used for Annual Traffic Safety Report and Road Safety Audit program. <br />Establish traffic sign inventory and maintenance program to meet new traffic sign <br />retroreflectivity requirements. <br />Address some of the findings in the September 2009 Limited Scope Performance <br />Audit of the Highway Fund including: <br />i. Develop a system that identifies the County road segments; <br />2. Develop road inventory including current conditions, remaining service life, <br />types of treatments used, and dates and costs of each application; <br />3. Adopt industry recommended practices related to preventative maintenance, <br />extension of road remaining service life, and traffic safety project identification; <br />4. Develop program activities strategic plan to be used as a foundation for future <br />budget planning; and <br />5. Coordinate with HPD to establish a systematic method for identifying, <br />recording, and transferring traffic accident location data to facilitate efficient <br />traffic safety analysis and reporting. <br />8/23/2011 <br />4 <br />
