Dominic Yagong, Council Chair <br />September 7, 2011 <br />Page 2 <br />Impact: 3,996 elderly (duplicated number) were served by the Food Distribution <br />Project, Hawai`i County Nutrition Program (congregate meals and home delivered meals) and a <br />faith -based organization, Under His Wings. <br />Outcome: Partially as a result of RSVP services: <br />Food Distribution Project — 1,650 elderly served. 98% of those surveyed indicated improved <br />diets leading to healthier lives and greater independence. <br />Hawai `i County Nutrition Program — 1,613 elderly served. 95% (1,532 elderly) remained <br />independent thereby avoiding premature institutionalization.
