COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTION NO. L () -L <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR TO ENTER <br />INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE U. S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, <br />OFFICE OF JUSTICE PROGRAMS, BUREAU OF JUSTICE <br />ASSISTANCE PURSUANT TO HRS 46 -7, FOR A JUSTICE <br />ASSISTANCE GRANT FOR THE HAWAII COUNTY POLICE <br />DEPARTMENT <br />WHEREAS, the U. S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Bureau <br />of Justice Assistance has authorized federal funding towards the Hawaii County Police <br />Department's Justice Assistance Grant Recovery program; and <br />WHEREAS, the funds from this grant will be used to purchase a trailer to <br />transport training materials and mats to outer districts, purchase audio and video <br />equipment to produce in -house training videos and to cover costs incurred for two <br />Death Investigation trainings for East and West Hawaii; and <br />WHEREAS, Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section 46 -7, requires that county <br />departments obtain the consent of the council to enter into agreements with the federal <br />or state governments respecting action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers <br />granted by taw to furnish, expend, and receive any funds or other assistance in <br />connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those powers; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII, in <br />accordance with section 46 -7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, that the Mayor of the County of <br />Hawaii is authorized to execute, on behalf of the County, an agreement attached hereto <br />and incorporated herein by reference as Exhibit "A ", and related documents with the U. <br />S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice Assistance, to <br />enable the County to execute the Justice Assistance Grant Recovery program. <br />
