The resolution authorizes the Hawai`i County Council the option to designate a portion <br />of the District's fuel tax allocation to be utilized for a grant -in -aid program for non - profit <br />organizations for the purpose of road maintenance for private streets and roadways. Resolution <br />No. 321 -10 also authorizes the formation of an ad hoc committee to set forth the process, general <br />criteria, and qualifications of the grant -in -aid program. <br />State Representative Faye P. Hanohano introduced House Bill 1626, which permits the County <br />of Hawai`i to appropriate the county's share of fuel tax revenue for the maintenance of <br />substandard private subdivision roads that are used by the public. This bill provides that neither <br />the State nor the County shall be required to install infrastructure improvements if the roads are <br />thereafter sold to a private entity.
