No. 415/Bill No. 122 <br />Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 122, reports as follows: <br />Bill 122, transmitted by Finance Director Nancy Crawford via Communication No. 415, dated <br />October 5, 2011, amends Ordinance No. 11 -59, as amended, the Operating Budget, ending June <br />30, 2012. The amendment is as follows: <br />From: <br />010.3304.06 State Grants — Area Plan on Aging General $10,550 <br />To: <br />010.411.5411.10 Area Plan on Aging General $10,550 <br />The bill amends the Operating Budget by increasing the appropriation of the Area Plan on Aging <br />Account by $10,550. For FY 2011 -12, the State of Hawaii Department of Health, Executive <br />Office of Aging has awarded the Hawai`i County Office of Aging; a grant (State Rainy Day <br />Funds) in the amount of $10,550 to be used to continue implementation of the Chronic Disease <br />Self Management Program (CDSMP). <br />Pursuant to Section 46 -7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, County Departments must obtain the consent <br />of the Council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting action to <br />be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend and receive any funds <br />or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those <br />powers. <br />County Executive on Aging, Mr. Alan Parker and Aging Program Planner, Ms. Pauline <br />Fukunaga appeared before Your Committee. Mr. Parker commented that Chronic Disease Self <br />Management Program (CDSP) is the national effort to reduce health care cost and train <br />individual to self management for chronic diseases. Ms. Fukunaga provided that this funding <br />will allow to keep this six week health awareness and self - management program free to <br />participants around the island. Furthermore, Ms. Fukunaga explained that this program was <br />FC Report No. 144 <br />
