No. 415/Bill No. 122 Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 122, reports as follows: Bill 122, transmitted by Finance Director Nancy Crawford via Communication No. 415, dated October 5, 2011, amends Ordinance No. 11 -59, as amended, the Operating Budget, ending June 30, 2012. The amendment is as follows: From: 010.3304.06 State Grants — Area Plan on Aging General $10,550 To: 010.411.5411.10 Area Plan on Aging General $10,550 The bill amends the Operating Budget by increasing the appropriation of the Area Plan on Aging Account by $10,550. For FY 2011 -12, the State of Hawaii Department of Health, Executive Office of Aging has awarded the Hawai`i County Office of Aging; a grant (State Rainy Day Funds) in the amount of $10,550 to be used to continue implementation of the Chronic Disease Self Management Program (CDSMP). Pursuant to Section 46 -7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, County Departments must obtain the consent of the Council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend and receive any funds or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those powers. County Executive on Aging, Mr. Alan Parker and Aging Program Planner, Ms. Pauline Fukunaga appeared before Your Committee. Mr. Parker commented that Chronic Disease Self Management Program (CDSP) is the national effort to reduce health care cost and train individual to self management for chronic diseases. Ms. Fukunaga provided that this funding will allow to keep this six week health awareness and self - management program free to participants around the island.
