COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTION NO. 187 11 <br />A RESOLUTION TO DISCONTINUE THE FLAT RATE MONTHLY AUTOMOBILE <br />ALLOWANCE AND PROVIDE ALL COUNCILMEMBERS WITH MILEAGE <br />REIMBURSEMENT OF UP TO $0.55 CENTS PER MILE FOR THE USE OF A <br />PRIVATELY OWNED AUTOMOBILE ON OFFICIAL BUSINESS. <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Chapter 2, Section 2 -101, Hawai`i County Code, the Council <br />Chair may authorize payment of monthly automobile allowance to any councilmember, officer <br />or employee for the regular use of a privately owned automobile or a mileage allowance <br />reimbursement up to $0.55 cents per mile; and <br />WHEREAS, a flat rate monthly automobile allowance of Six Hundred Dollars ($600.00) <br />per month and mileage allowance reimbursement of up to $0.55 cents per mile are two kinds of <br />monthly car allowance currently available to council members; and <br />WHEREAS, it would appear fiscally prudent to discontinue the $600.00 flat rate <br />monthly automobile allowance for council members and provide all council members mileage <br />allowance reimbursement of up to $0.55 cents per mile for the use of a privately owned <br />automobile on official business; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the <br />Council Chair discontinue the $600.00 flat rate monthly automobile allowance for council <br />members. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all council members on official business be <br />provided mileage allowance reimbursement of up to $0.55 cents per mile for the use of a <br />privately owned automobile. <br />
