No. 440 /Res. No. 185 -11 <br />Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 185 -11, reports as follows: <br />Resolution No. 185 -11, transmitted jointly with Bill No. 131 by Finance Director Nancy <br />Crawford via Communication No. 440, dated October 19, 2011, authorizes the Mayor to enter <br />into an agreement with the State of Hawaii Department of the Attorney General pursuant to <br />HRS 46 -7, for a Working Towards Crime Lab Accreditation grant for the Hawai`i County Police <br />Department. <br />The State of Hawaii Department of the Attorney General Crime Prevention and Justice <br />Assistance Division is providing federally derived funds of $13,000 for the purpose of <br />supporting the Hawaii County Police Department's Working Towards Crime Lab Accreditation <br />program. <br />The funds from this grant will be used for training, equipment, and services to increase the <br />overall efficiency and safety of forensic services. <br />Pursuant to Section 46 -7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, County Departments must obtain the consent <br />of the Council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting action to <br />be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend and receive any funds <br />or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those <br />powers. <br />Police Department Crime Lab representative Kathy Pung appeared before Your Committee. <br />There was no discussion on this measure. <br />FC Report No. 155 <br />
