IV. HSAC 2012 LEGISLATIVE PACKAGE <br /> A. Labeling of Genetically Engineered Food <br /> (Letter dated September 8, 2011 from K. Angel Pilago, Vice Chair of the <br /> Hawaii County Council to Mel Rapozo, President of the HSAC Executive <br /> Committee, transmitting a proposed draft bill relating to the labeling of <br /> genetically engineered whole food and justification sheet; and requesting <br /> approval of the draft bill for inclusion in the HSAC legislative proposals.) <br /> (Communication dated October 10, 2011, from County Clerk Jeffrey T. <br /> Kuwada, County of Maui, transmitting copies of Resolution No. 11-104, <br /> Resolution No. 11-105, and Resolution No. 11-106 which were adopted by <br /> the Council of the County of Maui at its October 7, 2011 meeting.) <br /> Vice Chair Pilago stated that the Hawaii County's proposed bill is truth-in- <br /> labeling legislation; it does not take a position for or against genetically <br /> modified products. <br /> After discussion, Vice Chair Pilago withdrew Hawaii County's proposed <br /> draft bill relating to the labeling of genetically engineered whole food and <br /> justification sheet in favor of Maui County's proposed draft bill on the same <br /> subject. <br /> The Committee voted to approve Maui County's proposed draft bill for the <br /> 2012 HSAC Legislative Package. <br /> B. Electronic Waste Recycling <br /> (Letter dated September 8, 2011 from K. Angel Pilago, Vice Chair of the <br /> Hawaii County Council, to Mel Rapozo, President of the HSAC Executive <br /> Committee, transmitting a proposed Resolution Requesting the State <br /> Legislature to Adopt House Bill 1521 (HB 1521) Relating to an <br /> Amendment to Chapter 339, Hawaii Revised Statutes, Regarding <br /> Electronic Waste Recycling for approval and to submit the resolution for <br /> the 2012 Legislative Session.) <br /> The Committee voted to approve an HSAC Resolution Requesting the <br /> State Legislature to Adopt House Bill 1521 (HB 1 521) Relating to an <br /> Amendment to Chapter 339, Hawaii Revised Statutes, Regarding <br /> Electronic Waste Recycling. <br /> C.
