Herbert of Council District 1 to the County of <br /> Hawaii Transportation Commission. Mr. Herbert is a retired, 14-year resident of <br /> Hawaii. From 2001 to 2007, he was a Project Engineer/Manager with SSFM <br /> International Inc. He also spent 28 years, from 1960 to 1988, as a member and an <br /> officer of the U. S. Coast Guard. <br /> Mr. Herbert currently serves as a board member of the Hawai'i Island Veterans <br /> Memorial and the Paukaa Community Association. He is also the vice president of the <br /> Big Island Retired Military Association and the Director of the Hilo Council, Navy <br /> League. He states that he is not affiliated with any political party.
