COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTION NO. 200 12 <br />A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE COUNTY CLERK TO INITIATE A TWO YEAR <br />PILOT PROGRAM TO PROVIDE COMPUTERS AND PRINTERS FOR PUBLIC USE TO <br />ACCESS ELECTRONIC INFORMATION. <br />WHEREAS, during the discussion of Bill No. 128 on December 7, 2011, it was brought <br />to the attention of the Council Members that money and /or other tangible property is owed to the <br />County and members of the public; and <br />WHEREAS, the money and /or other tangible property should be claimed by the rightful <br />owners; and <br />WHEREAS, if money is due to the public, it is appropriate in this difficult financial <br />time to notify them of the money and/or other tangible property; and <br />WHEREAS, money due to the County is the taxpayers' money and should be recovered <br />by the County of Hawai`i; and <br />WHEREAS, members of the public may not have access to the internet; and <br />WHEREAS, the public libraries are closed on certain days leaving their computers and <br />internet access unavailable to the public; and <br />WHEREAS, members of the public may need some help accessing the information via <br />the internet; and <br />WHEREAS, the County Clerk's office may help the public by providing accessible <br />computers and printers at the Hawaii County Building in Hilo, the Pahoa Council Office, the <br />Waimea Council Office, and at Building A of the West Hawai`i Civic Center; and <br />WHEREAS, the County Clerk may apply for grants to acquire computers and printers <br />for this service; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the <br />Office of the County Clerk shall provide computers and printers for public use in the Hawai`i <br />County Building in Hilo, the Pahoa Council Office, the Waimea Council Office, and Building A <br />of the West Hawai`i Civic Center, and each computer shall be restricted to appropriate <br />governmental websites, such as; the State of Hawai`i's website (e.g. for unclaimed property at <br />ehawaii.gov /lilo /app) and the County of Hawaii's website. The Office of the County Clerk may <br />determine which websites to allow. <br />
