The State Building Code Council has reviewed and <br /> proposed the adoption of the 2006 International Building Code (IBC) with amendments. There was also some discussion that was presented in Your Committee <br /> meeting today, from Gary Chock of the Structural Engineers Association of Hawai`i. Mr. Chock <br /> expressed his concerns with some of the suggested amendments and offered a rationale for why <br /> Hawai`i had to be identified in the "Windborne Debris" section. Department of Public Works <br /> Director Warren H. W. Lee spoke on behalf of the communication and recommended leaving in <br /> language suggested by Mr. Chock, to allow for the option of(not the requirement of) a"safe <br /> room" in a partially open structure. <br /> PWPRC-67 <br />
