COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />BILL NO. 172 <br />ORDINANCE NO. <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 18, HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983 (2005 <br />EDITION, AS AMENDED), RELATING TO PROMOTIONAL FARES. <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII: <br />SECTION 1. Chapter 18, article 4, division 1, section 18 -90, of the Hawai`i County <br />Code 1983 (2005 Edition, as amended) is amended to read as follows: <br />"Section 18 -90. Fares. <br />(a) Every person using the mass transit service owned, maintained or operated by the <br />County shall be charged a $1 cash one -way fare. <br />(b) Fare prepayment discounts. <br />(1) All tickets for travel can be prepurchased at a discount of twenty -five <br />percent off the scheduled cash fare by purchasing a sheet of ten tickets for <br />$7.50 per sheet with no expiration date ( "Ten Ride Discount Sheet "). <br />(2) A monthly bus pass fare plan will be offered at a cost of $30 for unlimited <br />rides on all routes. Monthly passes shall be valid through the last calendar <br />day of each month with no grace period. <br />(3) Both the Ten Ride Discount Sheet and the monthly pass must be <br />purchased directly from the mass transit agency or its designated <br />representative. <br />(c) Fare waived for children under the age of five (5), senior citizens, individuals <br />with disabilities and students. <br />All fares for travel by children under the age of five, senior citizens, individuals <br />with disabilities and students shall be waived. <br />(1) Children under the age of five shall ride free of charge. <br />(2) Senior citizens age fifty -five and older shall ride free of charge, after <br />providing proof of age from a valid State ID card, County of Hawai`i <br />Senior ID card, driver's license, birth certificate or passport. <br />(3) An individual with a disability shall ride free of charge with a valid, <br />"Person With Disability Identification Card ", issued by the County of <br />Hawai`i. <br />(4) Students (through college) shall ride free of charge, after providing a valid <br />school identification card. <br />
