No. 521/Bill 164 <br />Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill 164, reports as follows: <br />Bill 164, transmitted by Finance Director Nancy Crawford via Communication No. 521, dated <br />December 29, 2011, amends Ordinance No. 11-59, as amended, the Operating Budget for the County <br />of Hawaii for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2012. The amendment is as follows: <br />From: <br />010.361 1.04 Sundry Revenues — Current Year General $41,863 <br />To: <br />010.161.5163.19 Energy — R & D General $41,863 <br />The bill amends the Operating Budget by increasing the total appropriation in the Sundry Revenues — <br />Current Year account by $41,863, bringing the total appropriation to $111,863. <br />Pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, County departments must obtain the consent of <br />the Council to enter into agreements with the Federal or State governments respecting action to be <br />taken pursuant to any powers granted by law to furnish, expend, and receive any funds or other <br />assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those powers. <br />Chair Brenda Ford relinquished the chairmanship to Vice Chair Dominic Yagong, and he <br />assumed chairmanship of the Finance Committee. <br />Research and Development Director Randall Kurohara and Deputy Laverne Omori appeared before <br />Your Committee. Mr. Kurohara commented that with funds available from the Hawaii Energy <br />Efficiency Rebates, R & D wishes to pursue leasing or purchasing an electric vehicle(s). <br />Furthermore, it was indicated that Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (EV) was an optimal choice for <br />West Hawaii Civic Center. Ms. Omori also commented that it has not been decided who will have <br />use of the EV at this time. It is the Mayor's intent to increase county fleet with EV, and R & D are in <br />the process of exploring the cost of purchasing, leasing and maintenance of EV's. <br />FC Report No. 186 <br />
