REPORT OF THE <br /> COMMITTEE ON PLANNING <br /> DATE: February 14, 2012 Re: Comm. 552 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Hilo,Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 10:31 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96724 <br /> Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Comm. 552,reports as follows: <br /> Communication No. 552, from Mayor Billy Kenoi,dated January 12, 2012, requests <br /> confirmation of the appointment of Ms. Theresa L. Andreae of Council District 8 to the Kailua <br /> Village Design Commission. She is a 32—year resident of Hawaii. From 1992 to 1998,she was <br /> a'teacher/director at Hawai`i Montessori Schools. Ms. Andreae has been active in the Kona <br /> Outdoor Circle and Kona Historical Society. She was previously a member of this Commission <br /> from June 2006 to December 2007. <br /> Charmaine Shigemura, Executive Assistant to Mayor Kenoi,related that Ms. Andreae was <br /> unable to be present today. She further stated that Ms. Andreae is not affiliated with any <br /> political party;and if confirmed, will replace Eugene Power,whose term will end on December <br /> 31, 2012 and has resigned. She also stated that since Ms.Andreae will be serving a remaining <br /> term that is less than two years, she will be eligible to succeed herself for an additional full term <br /> of three years, which will end on December 31, 2015. <br /> Council Member Pilago stated his strong support for Ms. Andreae, who is from his district, and <br /> he further stated that the Kailua Village Design Commission is an important Commission that <br /> works with both the public and the County of Hawai`i to improve the community. <br /> Ms. Shigemura will contact Ms. Andreae and request her to attend the March 9, 2012 Council <br /> meeting, for final confirmation. <br /> • <br /> PC Rept.
