t►tv OF...;. <br /> n, <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII = �" STATE OF HAWAII <br /> • <br /> . �r�oF•M►..d . <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 229 12 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) FOR THE FOOD BASKET, INC. <br /> WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code <br /> (2005 Edition as amended) states, Grants in excess of$25,000 to nonprofit organizations shall <br /> specifically identify the organization receiving the grant and the purpose for which the grant <br /> shall be used in an ordinance or resolution; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Food Basket, Inc., serving as Hawai`i Island's Food Bank, (hereinafter <br /> "Food Basket") is an island-wide non-profit food network that collects and distributes nutritious <br /> food to low income families, the ill and disabled, senior citizens, children's programs and other <br /> charitable non-profit organizations; and <br /> WHEREAS, a substantial contribution to the Food Basket, serving as Hawai`i Island's <br /> Food Bank, would permit this organization to purchase and/or to use as matching funds to <br /> purchase food supplies; and <br /> WHEREAS, on December 21, 2011, the Hawai`i County Council adopted Resolution <br /> No. 198-12, Draft 2 which strongly urged the Mayor to allocate not less than$500,000 from the <br /> 2011-2012 operating budget immediately for the Food Basket to address a dire need; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Office of the Legislative Auditor has offered to transfer funds from its <br /> External Audit, Miscellaneous Contract Services account; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the <br /> following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below: <br />
