REPORT OF THE <br /> COMMITTEE ON PLANNING <br /> DATE: March 8, 2012 Re: Comm. 588 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 2:30 p.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Comm. 588, reports as follows: <br /> Communication No. 588 from Mayor Billy Kenoi, dated February 9, 2012, requests confirmation <br /> of the appointment of Ms. Josephine L. Tanimoto to the South Kohala Community Development <br /> Plan Action Committee. Ms. Tanimoto is a 25-year resident of South Kohala and is currently <br /> employed as a security officer for G4S Secure Solutions (Wackenhut). She was formerly <br /> employed as a trustee aide with the Office of Hawaiian Affairs. <br /> Ms. Tanimoto is a Board of Director of the Hawai`i County Economic Opportunity Council and <br /> has been very active as a member of the Waimea Senior Citizens, Kailopa Community <br /> Association, South Kohala Traffic Safety Council, and the Panaewa Farmers Association. If <br /> confirmed, Ms. Tanimoto will serve a four-year term. <br /> Charmaine Shigemura, Executive Assistant to Mayor William Kenoi, introduced Ms. Tanimoto <br /> who was present at the Waimea Council Office. <br /> Ms. Tanimoto thanked everyone and looks forward to serving on the South Kohala Community <br /> Development Plan Action Committee. <br /> Council Member Yagong stated he will support the nomination and expressed appreciation for <br /> Ms. Tanimoto coming forward and volunteering to serve on the committee, adding that a great deal <br /> of development is planned for that area. <br /> Committee Chair Hoffmann also expressed his support and stated he has known Ms. Tanimoto to <br /> be a very active citizen of the area and can't think of anyone better to serve. He told Ms. Tanimoto <br /> that she need not return to full council. <br /> PC Rept. No.: 44 <br />
