No. 705 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 8:06 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication 705, reports as follows: <br /> Communication 705, transmitted by Finance Director Nancy Crawford, dated April 27, 2012, <br /> authorizes the acceptance of a donation from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers of the following <br /> donation: <br /> Two (2) surplus Centurion Model 0057900 generators; (valued at $439.68 each, for a total <br /> estimated value of$879.36) to be utilized by the Hawaii Fire Department to support its <br /> Volunteer Stations, with one unit each in East Hawaii and in West Hawaii. <br /> Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the <br /> County, may accept gifts or donations of money. Also, pursuant to Chapter 2, Article 30, <br /> Section 2-162(c), Hawaii County Code, any donation or gift which does not fall within the <br /> capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance shall be submitted to the Council by <br /> letter for its approval. <br /> Assistant Fire Chief Glen Honda appeared before Your Committee. Mr. Honda provided <br /> information on the acquisition of this donation. He also provided the importance of this <br /> equipment and improvement to volunteer operations both in East and West Hawaii during <br /> periods of power outages. <br /> A letter of appreciation will be sent to Janice A. Jamar, Contracting Officer, Huntsville <br /> Engineering and Support, Department of the Army, Corps of Engineers, P.O.
