No. 738/Res. 265-12 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Kailua-Kona, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 1:38 p.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution 265-12, reports as follows: <br /> Resolution 265-12, transmitted by Council Member Brittany Smart via Communication No. 738, <br /> dated May 25, 2012, is a resolution requesting that the Mayor authorize the Director of Finance <br /> to enter into negotiations for the acquisition of TMK 9-2-001:072 in its entirety, certain portions <br /> thereof, or conservation easement, as situated in Kahuku, Ka`u, known as Pohue Bay. <br /> Chair Brenda Ford relinquished the chairmanship to Vice-Chair Dominic Yagong, and he <br /> assumed chairmanship of the Finance Committee. <br /> Council Member Brittany Smart commented that this is for the acquisition of entire property and <br /> it does not stop plans for development. Ms. Smart also added that the Public Access, Open <br /> Space, and Natural Resource Preservation Commission (PONC) provided its recommendation of <br /> this property and placed it on the priority list. <br /> Department of Finance Property Manager Ken Van Bergen appeared before Your Committee <br /> should the committee members have any questions.
