REPORT OF THE <br /> COMMITTEE ON FINANCE <br /> DATE: July 31, 2012 Re: Comm. No. 784/Res. No. 278-12 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 11:25 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 278-12, reports as follows: <br /> Resolution No. 278-12, transmitted by Council Member Donald Ikeda via Communication <br /> No. 784, dated July 10, 2012, authorizes the Director of Finance to compromise real property <br /> taxes owed by The Arc of Hilo on a parcel identified as Tax Map Key: (3)1-6-146-031. <br /> Pursuant to Section 19-3(12) Hawai`i County Code, the Director of Finance is authorized to <br /> compromise and refund the sum of$14,678.65, being the amount of taxes paid between <br /> August 1, 2009 and November 29, 2011 less the minimum tax of$200 that would be due if the <br /> exemption were properly filed. <br /> The Arc of Hilo CFO, Debbie Perkins, appeared before Your Committee. Ms. Perkins <br /> commented that it took several tries to correct errors in the Land Court and approval before lease <br /> ended. <br /> Finance Director Nancy Crawford appeared before Your Committee and provided further <br /> clarification and details on this matter.
