No. 815/Bill No. 289 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 3.:55 p.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 289, reports as follows: <br /> Bill No. 289, transmitted by Council Member Brenda Ford, via Communication No. 815 dated <br /> August 10, 2012, is a bill for an ordinance to amend 12-87 of the Hawaii County Code 1983 <br /> (2005 Edition, as Amended) Relating to Public Improvements and Financing thereof for the <br /> Fiscal Year July 1, 2012 to June, 30, 2013 — Classroom Buildings #1; HI Cty, St of HI, UH, & <br /> Private Partnership. <br /> This appropriation of$4,000,000 is to fund the Classroom Building#1, HI Cty, St of HI, UH, <br /> & Private Partnership project. <br /> Chair Brenda Ford relinquished the chairmanship to Vice-Chair Dominic Yagong, and he <br /> assumed chairmanship of the Finance Committee. <br /> Ms. Ford commented that this provides a public-private partnership; combination of State of <br /> Hawaii, County of Hawaii, University of Hawaii or other university, and private project <br /> funding on the new UH-West Hawaii campus. The partnership shall solicit for private donors <br /> and administration working with various agencies. It was also recommended that these <br /> classrooms focus on science labs as these are not available in West Hawaii.
