COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />306 12 <br />A RESOLUTION STRONGLY URGING THE COUNTY CLERK TO HIRE AN <br />INDEPENDENT AND EXPERIENCED ELECTIONS ADMINISTRATOR TO RUN THE <br />2012 HAWAII COUNTY GENERAL ELECTION <br />WHEREAS, the County Clerk stated in her Primary Election Day Report dated June 4, <br />2012, "although I did my best to ensure that Hawaii County would have a fair and well-run <br />election... numerous Election Day irregularities occurred, including late delivery of election <br />materials to precincts and failed communications and equipment problems"; and <br />WHEREAS, to ensure a smooth running 2012 General Election, the Hawaii County <br />Clerk should hire an independent elections administrator who has five to 15 years of supervisory <br />experience in elections administration; and <br />WHEREAS, funding for this position and any associated costs shall derive from the <br />budget of the Office of the Clerk; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII, that the <br />County Clerk shall hire an independent and experienced elections administrator to run the 2012 <br />Hawaii County General Election; and <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the County Clerk shall hire this elections <br />administrator within seven business days from the adoption of this resolution; and <br />
