BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> In 2005, Hawai'i County, through the State Executive Office on Aging, accepted a federal Administration on <br /> Aging's Aging Disability Resource Center (ADRC) grant to develop an ADRC. The Hilo ADRC was <br /> developed at the site of the old Sun Sun Lau restaurant and became operational in 2009. The ADRC <br /> continues to develop its programatic and staffing capacity to meet national standards of operation. Federal <br /> and State grants, as a part of the State's System Change Initiative 5 Year Implementation Plan, have <br /> provided funding for the continuing development. The current State grant provides funding for the current <br /> fiscal year. Funding will cover salary and benefits costs for 3 current temporary Hilo based county positions <br /> who administer the ADRC program and provide direct information and referral services, funding to address <br /> capacity to complete assessments, extend services to the North Hawaii districts, develop data processing <br /> functions, and to update the resource database. <br /> SIGNED: f yGL DATE: 10/25/12 <br /> Department Head <br />
