No. 59/Bill No. 17 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 2:40 p.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 17, reports as follows: <br /> Bill No. 17, transmitted by Finance Director Nancy Crawford, via Communication No. 59, dated <br /> December 21, 2012, amends Ordinance No. 12-87, amended, relating to public improvements and <br /> financing thereof for the fiscal year July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2013. The amendment is as follows: <br /> PUBLIC WORKS: <br /> Mamalahoa Highway PH I - Maria Road - Federal <br /> (110.399.5394.92) $ 56,000 <br /> Mamalahoa Highway PH I - Mana Road - County <br /> (110.399.5394.93) $ 14,000 <br /> Funds for this appropriation increase shall be provided from: <br /> Federal Grants Receivable $ 56,000 <br /> General Obligation Bonds, Capital Projects Fund - Fund Balance <br /> and/or other Sources $14, 000 <br /> The proposed bill adds the DPW Mamalahoa Highway Widening, Phase-I, Maria Road Federal project <br /> for$56,000, and the Mamalahoa Highway PH I—Nana Road - County project for $14,000 to the capital <br /> Budget. <br /> Public Works Director Warren Lee and Civil Engineer V Casey Yanagihara, from the Public Works <br /> Department, appeared before Your Committee and provided detailed information of this project. <br /> Mr. Lee stated that a 17-left turn pocket lane intersection project is expected to be completed within five <br /> years to help ease traffic island-wide. <br /> Ms. Ford was concerned with the preliminary estimate, and asked if money has already been <br /> appropriated in the budget for the construction of this project.
