REPORT OF THE <br /> COMMITTEE ON PLANNING <br /> DATE: March 12, 2013 Re: Comm.No. 149 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 11:05 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Communication No. 149,reports as <br /> follows: <br /> Communication No. 149, from Mayor William P. Kenoi, dated February 15,2013,transmits the <br /> nomination of Mr. Aaron N.Nagata to the Kona Community Development Plan Action <br /> Committee. <br /> Mr.Nagata is a lifelong Kona resident who graduated of Konawaena High School and Oregon's <br /> Willamette University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree. Mr.Nagata has been <br /> employed by the State of Hawai`i's Department of Human Services as a social worker since 1987. <br /> He was the head football coach at Konawaena High School from 2006 to 2011, a past Parent <br /> Teacher's Association President, and a past executive board member for the Alzheimer's <br /> Association Kona Chapter. <br /> Mr.Nagata is presently an Interdisciplinary team member for the Big Island's elderly population <br /> and participated in the planning of the community's regional park at the old Kona airport. He has <br /> been active with various youth organizations such as: the Big Island Pop Warner Association, <br /> American Youth Soccer Organization(AYSO), and the Kona Pony Baseball. <br /> Mr.Nagata expressed great interest in the Community Development Plan process stated that it <br /> would be a humbling, yet rewarding opportunity to make Kona the best community possible. He <br /> added the he is willing to serve in this capacity and pledged 120 percent to the process. <br /> Mr.Nagata was informed that he does not need to appear before the full Council for final <br /> confirmation. <br /> PC Rept.
