REQUEST: <br /> To appropriate an additional $72,964.00 under the "HI Impact Grant" account number 010.201.5219.93.115. <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> The U.S. Office of National Drug Control Policy is providing funds to combat methamphetamine drug <br /> problem in the County of Hawaii by conducting sting operations. The grant includes the purchase of a <br /> surveillance vehicle for covert operations, surveillance equipment, additional PE/PI funds to purchase <br /> evidence for investigations and to funds recertify and train the canine handlers. <br /> A high percentage of surveillance occur in rural areas with underdeveloped subdivisions ans substandard <br /> roads which require a four-wheel drive vehicle. The surveillance equipment will improve the departments <br /> ability to recover audio and visual evidence to enhance the quality of the investigation.
