These are appropriate and important areas where the <br /> county should invest resources to improve public safety and public services. <br /> This administration has reduced tax collections and cut spending for four consecutive <br /> years.We appreciate the difficult decisions our departments made in this challenging <br /> environment to reduce costs while still protecting core services, and we are proud of our <br /> administration's record of accomplishment. <br /> These efforts have clearly made county government leaner and more efficient. Our county <br /> government is less expensive today than it was four years ago, and this proposed budget is <br /> $8,886,474 less than the budget in effect when this administration began. <br /> County of Hawai'i is an Equal Opportunity Provider and Employer. <br />
