„,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAI I <br /> +r,Tt OF■•••44 <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 112 13 <br /> A RESOLUTION URGING THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION AND <br /> PATH (PEOPLES ADVOCACY FOR TRAILS HAWAI`I)TO RENAME THE OLD <br /> WALUA ROAD BICYCLE AND PEDESTRIAN SCENIC ROUTE TO THE "TONI <br /> FORTIN BLAIR MEMORIAL OLD WALUA ROAD BICYCLE AND PEDESTRIAN <br /> SCENIC ROUTE.” <br /> WHEREAS, the late Toni Fortin Blair was a resident of Kailua-Kona for more than <br /> 30 years; and <br /> WHEREAS, Toni Fortin Blair was a dedicated community volunteer, a founding <br /> member, and a tireless supporter of PATH (Peoples Advocacy for Trails Hawai`i), who led the <br /> effort to establish the Old Walua Road Bicycle and Pedestrian Scenic Route; and <br /> WHEREAS, the nearly four-mile long Old Walua Road Bicycle and Pedestrian Scenic <br /> Route is a linear shared-use pathway in Kailua-Kona and the only one of its kind in the Kona <br /> area; and <br /> WHEREAS, Toni Fortin Blair's leadership enabled hundreds of Kailua-Kona families <br /> and individuals to enjoy the pathway for walking, bicycling, and running; and <br /> WHEREAS, Toni Fortin Blair's unwavering dedication to making Kona a safe and <br /> healthy place to live, established a legacy that lives on through the many volunteers who <br /> continue her pioneering efforts on behalf of PATH; and <br /> WHEREAS, PATH and the County of Hawai`i, through the Department of Parks and <br /> Recreation, entered into an agreement on June 23, 1995, to combine efforts and resources to <br /> develop the former Walua Road for recreational use by pedestrians and bicyclists; and <br />
