REQUEST: <br /> To amend Chapter 18, Article 4, of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2005 Edition, as amended), relating to <br /> Public Transit System, Island-Wide Fare Structure. <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> The amendment of this article will increase bus fares to a $2.00 cash fare for riders of the Hele-On bus <br /> system. Senior citizens (age 60 and above), individuals with disabilities, and students will be charged a <br /> $1.00 cash fare. Children under the age of five will continue to ride free of charge. For all riders, a discount <br /> will be provided on a fare pre-payment program utilizing bus passes or bus tickets. <br /> In addition, we are requesting to have this bill go directly to the next Council meeting dated June 5, 2013, <br /> and waive Committee.
