<br /> WHEREAS, Councilmember Pilago served on the Hawai`i County Council for ,i'-`

<br /> � WHEREAS, Councilmember Pilago is a United States Army 101st Airborne
<br /> • Division Veteran who earned numerous decorations in Vietnam, including the
<br /> Silver Star for Heroism;and `
<br /> WHEREAS, Councilmember Pilago spearheaded two landmark Hawai`i
<br /> '''';‘)°,. Supreme Court civil rights victories — Kohonaiki-PASH and Ka Pa'akai v. LUC, �
<br /> which led to enactment of new laws in the State of Hawaii that provide strong tools
<br /> to ensure environmental justice,human rights,and public use of resources;and '
<br /> WHEREAS, Councilmember Pilago has thirty years of experience in
<br /> identifying issues, resolving conflicts,building coalitions, and coordinating positive
