'/:• STATE OF HAWAII <br /> .. .-..-;4-a....7.,...:,....o. i <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 154 13 <br /> A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THAT THE HAWAII STATE ASSOCIATION OF <br /> COUNTIES INCLUDE IN ITS 2014 LEGISLATIVE PACKAGE A BILL <br /> APPROPRIATING FUNDS TO CONSTRUCT THE DANIEL K. INOUYE COLLEGE <br /> OF PHARMACY AND HEALTH SCIENCES BUILDING PHASE 1. <br /> WHEREAS, the Daniel K. Inouye College of Pharmacy (College of Pharmacy) was <br /> founded in 2006 and graduated its inaugural class in 2011; and <br /> WHEREAS, in June 2013 the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) <br /> decided to continue full accreditation for the College of Pharmacy for two years on a provisional <br /> basis; and <br /> WHEREAS, ACPE Accreditation Standard No. 27 states that"The college or school <br /> must have adequate and appropriate physical facilities to achieve its mission and goals. The <br /> physical facilities must facilitate interaction among administration, faculty, and students. The <br /> physical facilities must meet legal standards and be safe, well maintained, and adequately <br /> equipped."; and <br /> WHEREAS, planning and design for the College of Pharmacy building is complete, but <br /> funds have not been appropriated for construction; and <br /> WHEREAS,the University of Hawai`i Board of Regents and Governor Neil <br /> Abercrombie have identified the College of Pharmacy as the top capital investment request for <br /> the University of Hawai`i; and <br /> WHEREAS, the continued lack of funding for a permanent building for the College of <br /> Pharmacy places its accreditation status in jeopardy; now, therefore, <br />
