COUNTY OF HAWAII -•� �' !1 STATE OF HAWAII <br /> �Tt OF-MF'i, <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 163 13 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) FOR THE PUNA REGIONAL EMERGENCY <br /> PREPAREDNESS FAIR. <br /> WHEREAS, Hawaii County's large landmass poses geographical and infrastructure <br /> challenges with emergency response, evacuation, and other safety and health-related services <br /> that impact the Puna area; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Hawai`i County Civil Defense Agency collaborates with agencies and <br /> groups, facilitates events, and helps to reduce the cost for events that cultivate community <br /> resilience and preparedness; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Puna Community Development Plan Action Committee formed the <br /> Subcommittee on Connectivity and Emergency Response, which will present the inaugural Puna <br /> Regional Emergency Preparedness (PREP) Fair in partnership with Hawai`i County Civil <br /> Defense; and <br /> WHEREAS, the PREP Fair will include oral presentations, evacuation mapping, <br /> interactive exhibit booths, and various contests and prizes for the public; and <br /> WHEREAS,participating groups include the Hawaii County Civil Defense Agency, <br /> Police and Fire Departments, State Department of Health,National Guard, Civil Air Patrol, <br /> National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Federal Emergency Management <br /> Agency (FEMA), American Red Cross, Hawai`i Island Humane Society, Pacific Tsunami <br /> Museum, University of Hawai`i at Manoa Center for the Study of Active Volcanoes, Hawaii <br /> Community College nursing students, and the Big Island Amateur Radio Club; and <br /> WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to <br /> the Hawaii County Civil Defense Agency to be used within the current fiscal year for the Puna <br /> Regional Emergency Preparedness Fair; now, therefore, <br />
