PSMTC -11 Page 2 September 4, 2013 Comm.', 393: AMENDS CHAPTER 14 OF THE HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983 (2005 (Bill 1113) EDITION, AS AMENDED), BY ADDING A NEW ARTICLE RELATING TO GENETICALLY ENGINEERED CROPS AND PLANTS From Council Member Margaret Willie, dated August 15, 2013. Prohibits open air cultivation, propagation or development of genetically engineered crops or plants. Exempts those currently engaged in these practices in areas where such activities have customarily occurred. Also exempts current and future genetically engineered papaya cultivation, propagation and development. Requires that all persons engaged in any form of cultivation, propagation, or development of genetically engineered crops or plants be registered within 90 days of the effective date of the ordinance, with a registration fee of $100 per location per year.
