PSMTC -11 Page 2 September 4, 2013 <br />Comm.', 393: AMENDS CHAPTER 14 OF THE HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983 (2005 <br />(Bill 1113) EDITION, AS AMENDED), BY ADDING A NEW ARTICLE RELATING TO <br />GENETICALLY ENGINEERED CROPS AND PLANTS <br />From Council Member Margaret Willie, dated August 15, 2013. Prohibits open <br />air cultivation, propagation or development of genetically engineered crops or <br />plants. Exempts those currently engaged in these practices in areas where such <br />activities have customarily occurred. Also exempts current and future genetically <br />engineered papaya cultivation, propagation and development. Requires that all <br />persons engaged in any form of cultivation, propagation, or development of <br />genetically engineered crops or plants be registered within 90 days of the effective <br />date of the ordinance, with a registration fee of $100 per location per year. <br />Comm.'1394: DISCUSSION AND FORMATION OF AN AD HOC COMMITTEE RELATING <br />TO GENETICALLY ENGINEERED CROPS AND PLANTS <br />From Council Member Margaret Willie, dated August 15, 2013. <br />Comm.404: REPORT OF ATTENDANCE AT THE 2013 HAWAII ISLAND GMO SUMMIT <br />From Council Member Karen Eoff, dated August 22, 2013, requesting time <br />to report her attendance at the 2013 Hawaii Island GMO Summit held on <br />August 19, 2013. Council Members Dru Kanuha and Margaret Wille were also in <br />attendance. <br />ADJOURNMENT <br />The meeting place is accessible for persons with disabilities.
