In order for the council to justify banning any GMO on this island then they would need to ban every
single item listed below because they have GMO ingredients in them. The public testimony and
previous discussions on the subject is mainly about safety. Is it safe for human consumption? Is it safe
to cultivate? If the county of Hawaii bans any GMO than the conclusion is that GMOs are a health risk to
the people of this island. If this is the case, then why would we compromise on the safety of the citizens
of this county? Banning every single item on this list to leave no doubt that the council acted to ban
GMOs for the betterment of its people. Food cost on this island would probably triple or maybe even
quadruple. Of course everyone would like to eat organic but not everyone has the finances to do so.
One question I want the county council to keep in mind when making this decision. Is it FAIR for the
people of this island for the county council to pick and choose which GMO to ban? Are they acting for
the betterment of the people or they have their own personal reasons to ban GMO? I trust that our
elected council will do what is right for the people of this island and leave their personal beliefs at home
when making a tremendous decision that will have a lasting impact on our island.
Michael Madamba
GMOs Used In Products Below
Baby Food "'Genetically Engineered Ingredients
Nabisco (Phillip Morris)
-Arrowroot Teething Biscuits
-Infant formula Carnation Infant Formulas(Nestle)
-AlSoy
-Good Start
-Follow-Up
-Follow-Up Soy
Enfamil Infant Formulas (Mead Johnson)
-Enfamil with Iron
-Enfamil Low Iron
-Enfamil A.R.
-Enfamil Nutramigen
-Enfamil Lacto Free
-Enfamil 22
-Enfamil Next step (soy and milk-based varieties)
-Enfamil Pro-Soybee
Isomil Infant Formulas (Abbot Labs)
-Isomil Soy
-Isomil Soy for Diarrhea
-Similac(Abbot Labs)
