No. 390 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 10:54 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 390, reports as follows: <br /> Communication No. 390, transmitted by Mayor William P. Kenoi dated August 15, 2013, <br /> requests review and favorable recommendation of the nomination of Mr. Melvin S. Morimoto to <br /> the County of Hawaii Salary Commission. <br /> Mr. Morimoto is a lifelong resident of Hawai`i. From 1999 to 2011, he was the Kona Historical <br /> Society museum manager. Mr. Morimoto has been a Director of the Kona Coffee Cultural <br /> Festival since 1999, and currently serves as its President. He is a former member of the Hawai`i <br /> Police Commission. Mr. Morimoto states that he is not affiliated with any political party. If <br /> confirmed, he will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2017. <br /> Ms. Char Shigemura, Executive Assistant to Mayor Kenoi, came forward to introduce Nominee <br /> Morimoto. She provided background information, expressed the Mayor's support, and requested <br /> the Council's favorable action of this appointment. <br /> Mr. Morimoto requested the Council's consideration to serve on the County of Hawai`i Salary <br /> Commission. <br /> Mr. Morimoto is not required to be present at full Council for final confirmation. <br /> Pursuant to Section 13-28, of the Hawai`i County Charter(2012 Edition), there shall be a salary <br /> commission, consisting of nine members, appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the <br /> Council. <br /> FC Report No. 85 <br />
