No. 415/Bill No. 124 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 10:05 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 124, reports as follows: <br /> Bill No. 124, transmitted by Finance Director Nancy Crawford, via Communication No. 415 dated <br /> August 28, 2013, amends Ordinance No. 13-65, as amended, the Operating Budget for the County of <br /> Hawai`i for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2014. The amendment is as follows: <br /> From: <br /> 010.3308.17 Federal Grants - Aggressive Driving Project General $ 19,112 <br /> To: <br /> 010.201.5216.30 Aggressive Driving Project General $ 19,112 <br /> These funds will be used to purchase additional speed detection radar units. <br /> Police Sergeant Robert Pauole of the Traffic Services Division appeared before Your Committee for <br /> questions. He explained that the Aggressive Driving program was started to reduce highway <br /> fatalities in West Hawai`i, specifically Highway 190, Highway 11 and Highway 19. The program <br /> has been successful in reducing traffic deaths.
