Office (808)327-5410 <br /> Fax (808)327-5411 <br /> July 31, 2013 <br /> County of Hawaii <br /> Department of Public Works <br /> Building& Planning Division <br /> RE: TMK:(3)7-5-4-58 <br /> Anderson Wealth Planning—Sign Variance Request <br /> To Whom It May Concern: <br /> We respectfully submit the attached request for a sign variance for our Anderson Wealth Planning sign that will be <br /> installed on the(former) Borders Books building located at 75-1000 Henry Street, Kailua Kona, HI,on the corner of <br /> Queen Kaahumanu Highway and Henry Street. <br /> We feel that no negative affects to the general public will occur by visibly advertising our business in an area already <br /> being used and permitted for commercial use. The sign is professional and blends in with the style and color of other <br /> signs located on the building. The sign variance is similar to the granted existing sign on the building for Caldwell <br /> Banker. <br /> A portion of the south side of the property is a drainage easement. On the Makal side of the property is Queen <br /> Kaahumanu Highway. The north side of the property is bordered by Henry Street and Walmart. The Mauka side of <br /> the property is Lowes, Pictures Plus,Central Pacific Bank and some vacant commercial lots. The signage size we are <br /> asking for is very minimal and modest in relation to all other businesses surrounding us on Henry St. The building is <br /> very large and smaller letters may be harder to see by both pedestrians and traffic. <br /> The sign will be very insignificant in size and wording and does not create any safety hazards. <br /> It is currently a hardship not to have external, publicly visible signage fronting the highway and street that identifies <br /> where we are located. People often comment that they cannot find our office. Permit should increase traffic safety <br /> as identity allows drivers to locate our office much easier. <br /> If you have any questions regarding this explanation, please feel free to contact me at (808)327-5410.
