COUNTY OF HAWAII'=' '�� • STATE OF HAWAII <br /> �T.•O f•N►'i <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 228 13 <br /> RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DEPARTMENT OF RESEARCH AND <br /> DEVELOPMENT TO AWARD A GRANT TO KAILUA VILLAGE <br /> IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT <br /> WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawai'i County <br /> Code (2005 Edition as amended) states, Grant awards in excess of$25,000 to nonprofit <br /> organizations shall specifically identify the organization receiving the grant funds and <br /> the purpose for which the grant funds shall be used in an ordinance or resolution.; and <br /> WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-136(5) of the Hawaii County Code <br /> states, "nonprofit organization" means an organization organized for other than profit- <br /> making purposes and which has a current 501(c)3 tax-exemption from the Internal <br /> Revenue Code; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development wishes to provide a <br /> grant of$30,000 to Kailua Village Improvement District; and <br /> WHEREAS, Kailua Village Improvement District qualifies as a nonprofit <br /> organization as defined above; and <br /> WHEREAS, this award is a result of a competitive selection process for the <br /> Hawaii Tourism Authority's County Product Enrichment Program funds; and, <br /> WHEREAS, funds will be used for the 2014 Active Lifestyle, Cultural & Special <br /> Events program in Historic Kailua Village; now, therefore, <br />
