No. 201-13 PLACE: Council Chambers Kona, Hawai`i TIME: 1:35 p.m. Council Chair and Members Hawai`i County Council Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 201-13, reports as follows: Resolution No. 201-13, transmitted by Council Member Greggor Ilagan, via Communication No. 487 dated October 28, 2013, authorizes the Director of Finance to enter into negotiations for the acquisition of Tax Map Key Nos. (3)1-4-002:022 and 051, Vacationland Land Trust in the District of Puna, pursuant to Chapter 2, Article 42, Hawai`i County Code 1983 (2005 Edition, as amended). The Vacationland Land Trust property (322 acres) was ranked by the Public Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation Commission as the seventh priority for purchase, and the Mayor in Communication No. 168, dated February 21, 2013, recommended the Council's acceptance of the list. Council Member Ilagan spoke in support of this project. He stated that the resolution will help to mitigate environmental concerns in the area and will serve as a protective buffer for the watershed and preserve water quality for the Wai `Opae Tidepools. Pursuant to Section 2-218, Hawai`i County Code 1983 (2005 Edition, as amended), the Director of Finance is authorized to enter into negotiations for the acquisition of Vacationland Land Trust in the District of Puna, pursuant to the terms of Resolution No. 201-13.
