No. 231-13 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Kona, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 1:35 p.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 231-13, reports as follows: <br /> Resolution No. 231-13, transmitted jointly with Bill No. 153, by Finance Director Nancy Crawford <br /> via Communication No. 529, dated November 14, 2013, authorizes the Office of the Mayor to enter <br /> into an agreement with the U.S. Department of the Attorney General, pursuant to Hawai`i Revised <br /> Statutes 46-7, for the Police Detectives Training grant to the Hawai`i County Police Department. <br /> The $65,200 grant from the State of Hawai`i Department of the Attorney General, Crime Prevention <br /> and Justice Assistance Division, would be used to train investigative personnel with the goal of <br /> increasing the prosecution success rate for murder and other serious violent crimes in the Hawai`i <br /> County. <br /> There was no discussion on this measure. <br /> Pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawai`i Revised Statutes, County Departments must obtain the consent of <br /> the Council to enter into agreements with the Federal or State governments respecting action to be <br /> taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend and receive any funds or other <br /> assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those powers. <br /> Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 231-13, and <br /> recommends its adoption. <br /> sc <br /> AYES NOES A&E EX Respectfully submitted, <br /> EOFF X <br /> FORD X COMMITTEE ON FINANCE <br /> ILAGAN X <br /> KANUHA X <br /> KERN X _ ��� <br /> ONISHI X <br /> POINDEXTER x VALERIE T.
