P SMTC -14 <br />January 7, 2014 <br />Comm. 385: AMENDS CHAPTER 14, GENERAL WELFARE, HAWAII COUNTY CODE <br />(Bill 109) 1983 (2005 EDITION, AS AMENDED), BY ADDING A NEW ARTICLE <br />RELATING TO THE RESTRICTION OF GENETICALLY MODIFIED <br />ORGANISMS <br />From Council Member Brenda J. Ford, dated August 13, 2013. Prohibits the <br />cultivation, development, or use of any genetically modified organism (GMO), or <br />to genetically modify any specific or non - specific parts of an organism's genome. <br />Exempts state or federally licensed medical or agricultural research institutions <br />provided all activity is located in a biosafety level 3 containment facility.
