COUNTY OF HAWAII '•.��" / •- STATE OF HAWAII <br /> p J <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 284 14 <br /> A RESOLUTION URGING THE HAWAII STATE LEGISLATURE TO PASS HOUSE <br /> BILL 1671, WHICH WILL INCREASE TRANSIENT ACCOMMODATIONS TAX <br /> REVENUE TO THE COUNTIES. <br /> WHEREAS, House Bill 1671 proposes to remove the current cap on transient <br /> accommodations tax revenues to be distributed to the counties and instead reserve to the counties <br /> 44.8 percent of collected transient accommodations tax revenue; and <br /> WHEREAS, the State will benefit from a greater partnership with the counties, which <br /> provide much of the services that support tourism; and <br /> WHEREAS, the counties maintain roads and parks and provide the law enforcement <br /> officers and first responders who serve residents and visitors; and <br /> WHEREAS, the current allocation to the counties is inadequate for the increased use of <br /> resources from visitors on county parks, infrastructure, and first responders; and <br /> WHEREAS, with the improving economy, the State has an interest in protecting the <br /> fiscal health of its political subdivisions; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the <br /> House and the Senate are urged to pass House Bill 1671, which will increase the transient <br /> accommodations tax revenue allocated to the counties. <br />
