REQUEST: <br /> The Hawai'i Fire Department is requesting a resolution authorizing the payment of funds, in a later year and <br /> for more than one fiscal year, for a multi-year lease to purchase two (2) fire apparatus (also known as fire <br /> trucks). The lease to purchase would be for a term of five (5) years. These fire apparatus shall replace older <br /> apparatus at fire stations in Honoka'a and Kea'au. <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> These apparatus will be assigned to the Honokaa Fire Station and the Kea'au Fire Station. Presently the <br /> apparatus at these locations are over 20 years old and require increased repair and maintenace to remain as <br /> reliable front-line response vehicles. New apparatus will reduce repairs and maintenance costs and increase <br /> response reliability. The Hawai'i Fire Department specifies fire apparatus that are manufactured to the latest <br /> National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) Standard and Department of Transportation (DOT) Regulations, <br /> providing for the safety of our personnel and the driving public. <br /> �,'-Ito,000 <br /> Anticipated costs are approximately $-1-,4607999 with interest over a five year lease to purchase term. <br /> Estimated lease cost is $23,500 per month or$282,000 annualy for both vehiles. <br /> This purchase is supported in the current budget FY 13/14, 5221.02.111 item 4 Two New Fire Apparatus <br /> 2014.(Fire Protection-OCE, Rental/Lease of Equipment). <br /> SIGNED: DATE: 1-'l ILt <br /> Department Head <br />
