She is presently the Project Director for <br /> Basic Hawaiian, a program of the Institute for Native Pacific Education and Culture. <br /> Dr. Kahakalau is also the Director of KU-A-KANAKA Indigenous Research Institute and <br /> the owner of Ku I Ka Mana Music Publishing. <br /> Dr. Kahakalau is currently a board member of North Hawaii Educational Research <br /> Center's Heritage Center, the Native Hawaiian Health Care Systems Institutional <br /> Review Board, and the Center for World Indigenous Studies. She states that she is not <br /> affiliated with any political party.
