On April 1, 2014, the ad hoc committee held a meeting to determine recommended award amounts for each of the applicant organizations. The ad hoc committee members were able to designate specific performance measures, expenditures, and directives to the awardees. Although the amounts requested by organizations exceed recommended award amounts, all of the applicants expressed their understanding and conveyed their determination to continue providing services to the needs of an ever increasing population. Exhibit A is a spreadsheet that shows the ad hoc committee's recommendations for fiscal year 2014-15. Exhibit B is a column chart that shows the recommendation amounts and percentages within each category, as defined in Hawai`i County Code Section 2-137 (3). Thank you for the opportunity to serve as Chair for this ad hoc committee. I would like to give special recognition to the ad hoc committee, Valerie Poindexter, Dennis "Fresh" Onishi, Greggor Ilagan, and staff, as well as the council support staff for contributing to this time consuming effort. A special thanks to Mayor William Kenoi for continuing this grant funding for the Nonprofit Organizations for the 2014-2015 fiscal year at $1,500,000. 2
