REPORT OF THE
COMMITTEE ON FINANCE
DATE: March 31, 2014 Re: Comm.No. 750/Bill No. 218
PLACE: Council Chambers
Hilo, Hawaii
TIME: 9:27 a.m.
Council Chair and Members
Hawaii County Council
Hilo, Hawaii 96720
Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 218, reports as follows:
Bill No. 218,transmitted by Finance Director Nancy Crawford, via Communication No. 750 dated
March 12, 2014, amends Ordinance No. 13-65, as amended, the Operating Budget for the County of Hawaii
for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2014. The amendment is as follows:
From:
010.3407.28 Charges for Services—ERS Section Activities General $ 22,600
To:
010.500.5519.79 ERS Section Activities General $ 22,600
This bill increases revenues in the Charges for Services—Elderly Recreation Services (ERS) Section
Activities account($22,600); and appropriates same to the ERS Section Activities account bringing the total
appropriation to $90,000. The appropriation increase is necessitated by the unanticipated increase in
participation in ERS classes, which are funded by charging participants for services.
Parks and Recreation Deputy Director Bob Fitzgerald appeared before Your Committee for questions. He
reconfirmed that the additional $22,600 are funds that are being added to the $67,400 appropriated in the
ERS Section Activities account in the current fiscal year's Operating Budget.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 218, and recommends its
passage on first reading.
sc
AYES NOES ABS EX Respectfully submitted,
EOFF X
FORD X COMMITTEE ON FINANCE
ILAGAN X
KANUHA X
KERN X
ONISHI X
POINDEXTER X VALERIE T.
