COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTION NO. 424 14 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE HILO ORCHID <br />SOCIETY INC. FOR THE PRODUCTION OF A 2015 HAWAII -GROWN ORCHID <br />CALENDAR. <br />WHEREAS, the Hilo Orchid Society Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization; and <br />WHEREAS, Resolution No. 207 — 13 designated 2014 as the year of the Hawaii -Grown <br />Orchid; and <br />WHEREAS, the beauty of the Island of Hawaii is considered by many to be its single <br />most important asset, and flowers are an important aspect of this beauty; and <br />WHEREAS, many residents around the island are Orchid growers and enthusiasts; and <br />WHEREAS, the floral industry is a significant part of our island's economic engine; and <br />WHEREAS, the Island of Hawaii is also known as the Orchid Isle; and <br />WHEREAS, emphasizing the special beauty and fragrance of Hawaii -Grown orchids <br />promotes the beauty and attractiveness of the Island of Hawaii for our visitor industry; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency <br />Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution <br />identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, or event for which the <br />grant shall be used; and <br />WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to <br />the Department of Research and Development to provide a grant to the Hilo Orchid Society Inc. <br />for the production of a 2015 Hawaii -Grown Orchid calendar; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the <br />following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below: <br />FUND: GENERAL <br />AMOUNT OF <br />APPROPRIATION: $1,000 <br />
