VM�r'or H�k7 COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII RESOLUTION NO. 426 14 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING THE SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO NEIGHBORHOOD PLACE OF PUNA FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO THE PAHOA RECREATIONAL BASKETBALL TEAM. WHEREAS, Neighborhood Place of Puna is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides assistance to families to ensure that children are raised in a safe and healthy environment; and WHEREAS, Neighborhood Place of Puna has a program that focuses on giving children the opportunity to play team sports, regardless of their financial circumstances, and WHEREAS, participation in team sports build teamwork skills, promotes active, healthy lifestyles, and encourages positive character qualities; and WHEREAS, the Pahoa recreational basketball team is composed of youth ages I 1 through 14, bringing together children from all subdivisions and various schools in Pahoa who participate in leagues sponsored by such organizations as the Department of Parks and Recreation and HI-PAL (Hawai'i Police Activities League); and WHEREAS, the Pahoa team does not have uniforms for its players, therefore, funds are needed to purchase uniforms and to cover other related expenses; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, or event for which the grant shall be used; and WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Neighborhood Place of Puna for financial assistance to the Pahoa recreational basketball team; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:
