.............. <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> •:,b�;tee: . <br /> 4 os•N►r <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 459 14 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT FOR THE 2014 HAMAKUA SUGAR PLANTATION <br /> DAYS FESTIVAL. <br /> WHEREAS, the 2014 Hamakua Sugar Plantation Days Festival is the 20-year <br /> celebration of the closure of the Hamakua Sugar Company; and <br /> WHEREAS, this event commemorates the history of plantation life, brings back the <br /> memories of community togetherness and family values, and shares how the closing of sugar <br /> mills affected the mill workers' sense of security and community identity; and <br /> WHEREAS, the 2014 Hamakua Sugar Plantation Days Festival will educate and bring <br /> awareness to the diverse cultural ethnicities of Hawai`i Island, while bringing enjoyment to the <br /> quality of life for its residents and visitors; and <br /> WHEREAS, events and activities during the festival include arts and crafts, food booths, <br /> historical photo displays, cultural performances and music, and historical photo displays; and <br /> WHEREAS, the 2014 Hamakua Sugar Plantation Days Festival is being organized and <br /> sponsored by the Hawai`i County Department of Parks and Recreation, Culture Education <br /> Division; and <br /> WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to <br /> the Department of Parks and Recreation, Culture Education Division, to help fund the <br /> 2014 Hamakua Sugar Plantation Days Festival; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the <br /> following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below: <br />
